The water supply line for the ice maker continually freezes in the interior of the unit in a sealed area of the box I cannot access. This is preventing the ice maker for getting water. I have been able to thaw the frozen line by injecting hot water into the line from outside the box and the ice maker works. However the line refreezes preventing water from reaching the ice maker.
I have gradually reduced the temp control for the freezer until I reached the lowest/warmest possible setting. I cannot adjust the control any lower/warmer, the water supply line remains frozen and the temp reading inside the freezer box is Zero Degrees.
After doing some reading I suspect the Cold Control (#2198202)
has gone bad but I would like your expert diagnosis.
Also, I would appreciate your thoughts on rating the 'degree of difficulty' of a Do It Yourself repair.
ANSWER Hello Bob,
You need to check the water pressure to the back of the unit. If you have good pressure at the water inlet valve, the water inlet valve W10408179 will require replacement to prevent the fill tube from freezing.
