My refridgerator or freezer is not cooling.. the compressor is still vibrating, I had a technician come out and look at the unit and at first I was told it is not the compressor, but then he changed his mind and said it was either compressor or the frion *spell*... Is there some type of diagnostics that can be done so I know for sure?? I hate to pay money and not even fix the correct problem??
The best way to tell if it is the compressor is to check the evaporator coils. If the coils have any frost on them then the compressor is pumping refrigerant. If there is frost but not a full frost pattern, going from top to bottom then the problem would be a sealed system leak. If there is no frost at all then it could still be refrigerant leak on high side of system but could be compressor as well.
