I have a Whirlpool Duet washing machine 6years old that gives a 'dl' door lock error. I can hear the clicking sound it makes 6 times before throwing the error. I replaced the door switch assembly but this didn't solve the problem. I assumed that hearing the clicking sound was a relay activating. Looking at a schematic a see a relay that connects to the heating element via the main switch inside the door switch assembly. Is this my problem or am I way off course?

ANSWER Hello Bob. No, if the lock assembly has been replaced, you either have a bad wiring harness, or the control board is bad and will need to be replaced. Also, make sure the latch strike on the unit is not broken.
