How do you remove the control knob for the thermostat? We need to change out the thermostat. After removing the knob, is it just one screw to get the control box off? Then just a matter of unplugging and re-plugging the thermostat?
ANSWER Hello D.O.,
The knob pulls straight off. There are either 2 or 4 screws to remove the control box. The thermostat goes in the way the old one is in so it is a good idea to take a few pictures of it with your cell phone before removing the old one. The reference can be invaluable if you get the old one out and can't remember how to reassemble. Be sure to route the thermostat probe as the old one was. Also be careful not to break the aluminum tube, (probe), because it has a very corrosive chemical inside that is used to transfer the temperature to the electrical part of the thermostat from the end.
