Hello there...! I have a Maytag Nepture Priority One Full Sized Over/Under Washer/Dryer. MODEL: MLE2000AYW SN: 51857402AL It is a 240V 30A unit. I am moving it to a place with 120/208V service. There's a Heating Element Conversion Kit (240V--> 208V) available (308590 or W10116795). Can I use this to convert the W/D to work on 208 V 30A? I was told that it could ruin the Washer motor. I don/'t see why that would happen. It will be running at a lower voltage. Thanks Alex
ANSWER Alex, Yes, you will want to install the 208 VAC element conversion kit W10116795 on the dryer. This will allow the dryer to heat and cycle properly, otherwise the dryer a 240 VAC element won't heat properly and create longer run times and higher energy costs. You are correct, the 208 VAC circuit should not create an issue with the washer motor, as long as the power supply is stable. The motor in this unit is a low voltage DC induction motor.
