This is getting a little convoluted. Front and side can't be used interchangeably. Are these clips 3 inches behind the front corners (on the side edges of the cooktop) or 3 inches inward to the left and right of the front corners (on the front edge)? Thanks again.

ANSWER Michael, If the spring clips are present on your unit(some units don't have them), they are two to three inches in from each front corner of the range. Make sure you remove the grates, burner caps and burner bases (two small phillips head screws on each burner) before you attempt to raise the cooktop. Thanks and good Luck
