Ice is melting in tray, ice maker is working but it appears that it melts then re freezes. I noticed that refrigerator is not running even though temp is above freezing. I removed the back cover in the freezer and coil was frozen so I switched the defroster timer to defrost and element did not heat up. I did not have continuity over defrost t-stat so I replaced it and now element gets hot. After a couple days the unit seems to be better but ice cream is not solid and temp goes up to 33 degrees in freezer I`m assuming while in defroster mode. Can defroster cycle take to long and cause this? Should I also replace timer? Unit is 10 years old. Thanks
ANSWER Hello William. You will need to check and make sure you melt all the ice off the coils where they were frozen over. If there is ice still on the coils, it will cause the unit not to cool properly. If it is sticking in defrost, you will need to replace the timer 68233-3. Hope this helps.
