Motor bad or transmission? The washer will load water just fine. When it gets to agitate cycle all I hear is a hum coming from control panel area. If I move it to drain/spin cycle with lid open no hum from control panel. But when I close the lid get same hum sound from control panel and no water drain or spin. So I assume lid switch is working
Sounds like motor but not sure how to test it?
You will want to check to see if the motor is running or if hit is just humming. You would check the motor by testing for voltage from red to white for start and if there is not 120 vac then there is either a wiring issue or the timer contacts are not making. If there is voltage but the motor is not running but just humming then it sounds like the contacts in the timer are sticking between agitate and spin. If the motor is running then check the motor coupling to make sure it is not broken.
