Can a un-handy man using a screwdriver replace the whole door assembly (AP4056799)? To cut my expense, I'd prefer to replace only the plastic surround (AP4263115) which a renter has managed to melt; how, I don't know! But it looks like it would be more difficult than replacing the entire door.
I will appreciate any insight from you. Thanks.
ANSWER Hi Gary. All of what you said is true. It is tricky at best to un clip plastic door parts and be able to reuse them properly especially the microwave's where the leakage is not wanted for safety issues. In more recent years the manufactures have supplied the easiest way to be able to replace the door whole assy. part # 53001336. It will just open fully and lift up off its hinge pins. Then you slide it out altogether. Then carefully reinstall it. Advise everyone to use the stop/clear button BEFORE-OPENING and the unit will last longer. Thank You.
