Apologies for insisting on this question: When would this seal be necessary? Is the seal likely to be damaged when replacing the glass?

ANSWER Hello Paco. In response to your question, no. The seal would only require replacement if it were damaged or had a spill on it that stiffened it to the point that if the glass should require replacement it could not be reused because a proper fit could not be achieved. Hope this helps!
