I am replacing the drain pump assembly - it is full of stinky gunk and miscellaneous small pieces. The drive is broken so it is at an angle. I have pulled small pieces from it - pennies, lego parts, jolly rancher wrapper. Where do these parts get through to go all the way to the drain pump? Is there anything I can do to prevent it?
In most cases the pieces get through a little opening between inner and outer tub. Unfortunately aside from checking all clothing before putting in the wash there is no way to stop things from getting into the pump strainer. Periodically you will want to pull the strainer and make sure that there is nothing in it that will eventually get into the pump itself.
