Trying to test Cycling Thermostat. The red outer prongs give an ohms reading of 1.7 ohms on meter, not 0 and not 1, so is the thermostat good or bad? The purple inner prongs give a reading of 7000.
Problem is that dryer heats sometimes and not others. It might start out blowing hot, but later blows with no heat.
ANSWER Kerry, the small "brass" colored terminals should have a resistance reading of 5500 to 8500 ohms. The two outer "silver" terminals should be a "closed" circuit at room temperature and an "open" (infinite resistance) circuit at 150 dgrs. with the meter set at the lowest resistance range (RX1 scale).
