Once a year we check our whole house generator by shutting off the main power and letting the generator power the house. (we also power up the generator monthly to keep the battery charged.) Yesterday, after returning to main power, the dryer would not work at all - no sounds, no lights. The dryer was not on during the generator check, but 2 circuits and 2 GFI's were tripped when we returned to power (none that controlled the dryer.) We have used our generator a few times during an actual power outage, and this had never happened before. Our gas dryer is 7 years old has has never had a problem. Tried unplugging.
The first thing that you will want to check is to make sure that there is power to the dryer. You will want to check for 120 vac at the power supply. If there is not power then the issue is in the home wiring. If there is power then you will want to check the control board for 120 vac on terminals L1 also may be listed as connector P1 pin 5 (black wire) to P1 pin 2 (White wire). If there is not 120 vac at this point then the issue would be the power cord. If this checks ok then the control board would be faulty.
