Dryer won't start. Thermal fuse was bad and I replaced it. Still won't start, so I followed the wiring diagram through the motor where a white wire goes from the motor to the timer switch, gang plugged with a tan wire, and they plug onto a on-off component of the switch. That switch, when in the run position on the timer should be closed, right? Also on the diagram it shows a "guard switch". Where is that? When I jump the plug with the white and tan wires, it will start. So if either the timer switch or the guard switch were closed, it would start. Do I need a new timer switch?
ANSWER Hello Wally. You need to check the door switch and make usre it is good, and if the unit has a belt switch check that as well. If all is good, replace the timer.
