Everything works fine, except for when you open the in the middle of a drying cycle, the heater stays on. The dryer got very hot and I opened everything, cleaned it all out and cleaned the ducts. I only noticed that the heater stays on, after I had it all open and turned it on to see if I could see anything.

John for Model Number Whirlpool LER7646EQ2

ANSWER John, Based on the information it sounds like the heater circuit from the timer may be sticking. You can test the unit with the timer in the off position and see if you are getting 120 vac on the red wire of the timer. If so then the timer is sticking and will need to be replaced.
