Electric dryer turns on but doesnt not heat. First thing I did was clean out the lint and the duct. Its all cleaned, not much there because I cleaned it out about 4 months ago too. Check the thermostat- its good! checked the Thermal cut off- its good. Check the Heat Element- it has a crack on the sheet metal plate but it still has continuity. I did buy a new one just in case, installed it- no difference. Thermal fuse is good. The Thermistor/thermister read at 12 k ohms at "room themp" I actually check the temp of the thermistor's terminals and they are around 62degree. I check continuity at the electric control panel- all good. I checked the wall outlet- got a reading of 240, tested the plug at the dryer, also tested 240+-. Im lost, what now?
You will want to test the heater to make sure that it is getting 240 vac. If you check across the terminals it should read 240 when the unit is on and calling for heat. If it does not then check for 120 vac on each side to chassis ground. Whichever side that there is not 120 vac on is the side you will need to trace back to origination. It could be a bad centrifugal switch on the motor or could be a bad control board if all other components test ok. You will also want to double check all wiring for breaks or damage.
