From researching this site, I determined that the main control board on my Whirlpool refrigerator has gone out. I have removed the board, part # W10135090, to see if I could see any physical signs that this was the problem. I found that the board is "fried" under one of the black square components on the board and the white plastic box the board mounts in is scorched and black in that location. Obviously the board is bad, but what caused it? Everything seems to be working fine with the refrigerator. Does this just happen or is something else wrong? I don't want to fry the new board when I install it.
There is no real reason to give for why the board may have burnt. It could be from a power surge or a weak relay on the board. Putting a new board in should resolve the issue with the unit.
