I need to replace the bake element. When I removed the old bake element, there were three wires attached. A red wire to one end of the element, a yellow wire to the other end of the element, and a green wire to a screw that was attached to a small metal plate that also held the yellow wire. The new bake element only has two connectors. What should I attach the green wire to?
ANSWER Hi Molly. Great question. When the element part # Y04000041 is mounted with a screw it grounds the element itself (changed from the inside). Then make sure you repack any insulation back around the element through holes so heat don't escape and burn wires. Then the red and yellow wires to the element terminals. Find a chassis screw and place the green wire under it on the back. Make sure the connection is clean and tight to chassis ground. Thank You.
