I received my new dual element and connected it per the indtructions. Everything works, but the center element does not turn red, even on the hi setting. I'm wondering if I could have the two wires (single red and tan) switched. since there are no terminal numbers for the two terminals they are on and the terminals are different than the original element that was removed.

ANSWER Don, It could be a "crossed" wire, at the new burner. Try this: At the burner sensor(box) terminal 2B should have a single Red wire( goes back to the multi plug) terminal 1B should have a double Red wire attached to it(common to all the 1B termianls) 2B should have a single Red wire going to the "hot surface" indicator light. On the side of the element, The termianl with the "jumper" wire attached to the sensor terminal is the "common" to both element ribbons, The Yellow wire should attach to the "outer" ribbon element terminal, and the Tan wire will attach to the "inner" ribbon element terminal.
