I order a dual element (AP4009116) and I can't seem to get it wired properly. I had the inner element working but not the whole thing could you tell me how it's suppose to be wired.
Adub for Model Number MER5780BAW
ANSWER Adub, You probably have a crossed wire at the element sensor, especially if you went wire for wire. Some terminals were relocated by the manufacturer. You'll need to remove the element and varify the terminal numbers in order to wire the element correctly. So, At the sensor assembly : 1A will have the single red wire from the infinite switch. 1B will have the double red wires common to all burner sensors. 2A is pre wired with the jumper tp the element common lead. 2B will have the double tan wires attached, common to all sensors and "hot Surface" lights. At the element side terminals, the terminal farthest from the sensor will have the yellow wire attached , this is the outer ring element circuit. The remaining wire will attach to the terminal closest to the sensor, this is the inner ring element terminal. And the middle terminal should have the "common' lead from the sensor attached to it. Good Luck and Thanks
