We have a Maytag range/cooktop model number MER5750AAW serial number 15845250WZ. The large right front burner quit working completely. We replaced the burner with an element with limiter kit. Now the burner comes on at full heat regardless of control switch setting. The burner will turn off with the switch. Also, the hot element indicator will illuminate when the burner heats up but the hot element light goes out as soon as the control switch is turned off. Is it possible we got the wrong element/limiter? What do we need to do to get the element working properly.
ANSWER Hello James,
You want to recheck your wiring to the element. Looking at the wiring diagram it shows that you have a red that goes from hot surface indicator to the 2b terminal. You have Red that goes from molex connector pin 1 to 2a terminal, red that goes from molex connector pin 3 to 1a and jumper from each element terminal 1b that goes to the 1b terminal on the element. If this is correct then you would need to replace the infinite switch 7403P239-60
