seems like the inner burner not working of the triple burner (with outer 2 burners still working) is a common problem. I see your suggested advice about it possibly being the switch and not the element. Do you know if it is commonly just the switch?

You can check to see if the element is burnt. Using a flashlight you can look down inside the element and look for burn marks. This would most likely be the element rather than the switch but could be the switch if not burnt on element.
