I have a maytag Neptune gas dryer. The dryer was heating up once, but wouldn't reignite. I replaced the gas valves - same issue. Replaced the thermostat - same problem. Replaced the control panel - problem worsened as the dryer no longer heated once. Replaced the flame sensor - still won't heat even once. Replaced the igniter - it sparked a lot and the metal fell off (faulty igniter?). Any other suggestions?

ANSWER Hello Sam, Of course I am working with the handicap of no model number, but I would guess that if the ignitor fell off, it was faulty. You need to replace the ignitor and the coils on the safety valve. If this doesn't correct the issue, the gas valve has failed.
