First time we noticed anything with our oven we had the following issue. The oven started to smell like gas when we went to turn the oven on. I opened the door and saw an orange glow, but no blue flame present. We turned the oven off, and then about two minutes later, tried it again, and then the blue flame was present. Did not have another problem for about 3 weeks. Now the oven will not light at all. The "glow plug" lights up and stays bright orange, but there is never any flame present. I do not hear any gas, nor do I smell any gas as long as the glow plug is lit. Just wondering if I need a new igniter assembly P/N AP4012072.
ANSWER Hello Corey. Test for 3.2-3.6 volts AC at the gas safety valve with the igniter turned on. If the voltage is there, you have a bad safety valve. If the voltage is low, you have a weak igniter and the igniter will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
