We had the leak as described from the float - made it all the way to the basement. I was able to get a float at a local parts store and replaced it and there is still a leak - although much smaller in magnitude - at the same location (the switch that controls the stops the tub filling. What is the correct way to install the new float? What is the position of each of the three pieces? The nut is put on after the float is inserted through the pipe? Correct? The rubber washer goes on the top of the tube or underneath before the nut goes on? It seems like it is going to leak some amount no matter what? Thanks for any guidence you can provide.

ANSWER Peche,You're mostly on track. Insert the float into the float tube, make sure everything is clean ,first. Insert the washer over the end of the float stem and push it up the approximately 1/3 to 1/2 way up, install the nut on the stem and turn the float 2 or 3 turns clockwise. Then, Check and make sure the dishwasher is level in both directions(front to back and side to side). Start the dishwasher and allow it to run 5 minutes, unlatch the door and remove the lower rack. The water level should be within 1/4 inch of the heater element, if the fill level is correct, you'll need to remove and check the lower spray arm and bearings, for excessive wear and cracks or splits in the spray arm.
