HI, We are now experiencing (after 6+ years of frequent use) a jumping vibration during the spin cycle. I cleaned out the pump basket and inspected the 4 tub dampers (shocks). All these dampers are showing signs of oil leakage. I pulled the back of the dryer and inspected the pulley/bearing and all this in fine condition. I tried to move the pulley laterally also but has no free movement. Rotation is smooth and clean. The inner drum rotates freely and cannot be moved laterally without the outer drum moving as well. I assume this bearing is fine.
This morning we noticed water in the Drum….I again pulled the basket strainer and this was found to be full of grey coloured shavings (same colour as the 3 baffles. These baffles are all clean. Washer works fine except for mentioned vibration/knocking. What do you feel may be the problem? I am ready to order 4 new shocks but the grey shavings have me slightly concerned.
The issue would most likely be caused by bad shocks in which the drum getting off balance can cause a rubbing effect and cause the shavings.
