For Whirlpool Fuse, Thermal (Part Number: AP4056527)

I just replaced the thermal fuse (p/n AP4056527) on my dryer. Less than three days later it is bad again. The vent hose is not blocked, vent wheel is not spinning on motor shaft and verified that it is the correct fuse. Why is it blowing fuses. I have a new fuse on order. Thanks. ANSWER Hello Brian, I certainly don't want to make you mad, but the thermal fuse is opened by temperature. Nothing else will open it. This is a clear indication that somehow there is too much heat being held inside the unit. If you have flexible ducting, there could be a crimp when the unit is pushed back to the wall. Remember if the duct is in excess of the equivalent of 25 feet long, (each 90° angle is the equivalent to 6 feet of straight ducting), the unit will blow the heat, lint, and moisture past the felt drum seals back into the cabinet with the thermal fuse, thermal cutout, and thermostats. Everything you don't want heat, lint, and moisture on will get heat, lint, and moisture on it. Another possibility is if your laundry room has a door, it may not be getting enough air intake. This decreases the air flow just like restricting the exhaust will decrease it. If this is the case, you either need a louvered door, or simply leave the door open. In either case, the issue has to be air flow because, as previously stated, the thermal fuse is opened thermally which means it is getting too hot.
