My washer seems to be leaking on the spin cycle. More when water level is high, less when the water level is low. The tub cover has a band of clear silicone around it which appears to glue the upper and lower halves of the tub cover together. The leak appears to be coming from a short section of the silicone that was thinner after it was applied. I want to just apply additional silicone but am not sure if just any silicone will work. Could you advise me please?

ANSWER Hello John. You do not need to use silicone on the tub cover. If it is leaking, you will need to replace the cover and gasket 22001299 on the unit. The small crack will get larger and cause a flood if not replaced. Hope this helps.
