Hi, I have the side by side whirlpool fridge model GD25DFXB02. It has been slow over the past few months, changed the filter with one of your replacements, and it was great for about 2 weeks and then seriously slowed (to little more than a trickle.) thought it might be one bad filter, so two weeks in I changed to the second one, let the recommended amount of water go through and again, was flowing nicely for two weeks, then slowed. Not sure if this is relevant, but when I took the filter out, the water was also flowing great. Do I need to replace the water filter head? I appreciate any suggestions!
ANSWER Hello M.J.S.,
This sounds like excessive debris in the water supply. If you have had a water heater failure recently, you could have debris in the water supply from the old water heater. Otherwise, I think you should install an in-line filter behind the unit for two reasons: The in-line filter replacements are usually much cheaper to replace than the on-board filters. Secondly, the in-line filters have not experienced issues that the on-board filters have. The on-board filters even generated service bulletins with "curing" issues from the manufacturers.
