I'm troubleshooting the defrost system on my Kenmore 596.71103101. I measured 312 ohms across the terminals of the defrost heater at room temperature. I'm wondering if this is the manufacturer's value.
ANSWER Hello Matt. If the heater is showing resistance, it is good. You will need to test the thermostat 10442411 for continuity. It should read closed when cold. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps.http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
