A "closed reading" on an ohm meter is continuity? Would a bad heater thermostat cause the dryer not to run at all?
ANSWER Hello Douglas. No, the heater thermostat 61623 would not cause the dryer not to run. You will need to make sure the timer is pressing in properly to start the dryer. Also, test and see if the door switch W10169313 is good. If not, it will prevent the dryer from working. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
