The defrost drain on the freezer is freezing up and backing up ice/water into the freezer and eventually draining refrigerator section. I can disassemble the rear panel, ice-maker and access the coils and heater ( part # AP4455505 ) in the rear of the freezer to thaw out the ice dam and am wondering if the heater element is the culprit ? The water drain is not blocked by anything. Are there any special tools or knowledge needed to replace the heater element ? Thanks.
ANSWER Hello Wilson. You will need to check and make sure the refirgerator is level so that the drain works properly. If it is level, blow through the drain and make sure it is not partially clogged. The heater would not cause this problem to happen. Hope this helps.
