My heating element is staying on and the dishes are EXTREMELY hot to the touch up to 8 hours after the machine has shut off. How do i properly diagnose the problem and what part(s) do I need to purchase resolve the problem?
ANSWER Rich, The first thing is to remove power to the dishwasher, then remove the kick plare and lower access panel ( 4 screws) You'll want to visiually check for metal or debris touching one or both of the heater element terminals at the back of the tub, You also want to check bothe the wires (rd/blk and wht) wires for a possible short to chassis ground. If all's OK then you'd have to presume the heater relay on the control board [AP4113789 or 12002709(depending on serial number) is stuck "closed" and completing the circuit in the Off mode, it should only be energized during the heated dry or water temp boost selections. You may even find the technical data sheet in a plastic bag on the back of the kick plate, so you can conduct the tests listed and see the circuit path. Thanks
