My washer makes a loud noise when in the wash cycle. The Spin cycle is working normally. When I manually spin then drive belt in one direction the tub spins, the other direction nothing happens. Is the splined shaft for the agitator supposed to spin in that direction? And is that a transmission problem?

ANSWER Hello Andy. If the agitator does not turn while manually turning the belt, you have a bad transmission. Hope this helps.
