The plastic retaining "ring" for the ice lever has broken across approximately 120 degrees. This allows the bar at the top of the lever to fall out of position and thus render the ice dispenser lever inoperable. A service call gave me the info that this part was no longer available and thus the answer was, "buy a new door or refrigerator". Does anyone have any suggetions on how to fix this very small plastic piece and/or an after market source for the part? The broken piece is gone.
ANSWER Hi Paul You will remove the Fountian spill catcher. Take the 2-screws out of the bottom of the fountian. Remove power. Lift and remove fountian control. Mark all wires so you can reconnect them upon installation. The ice door kit will help assure the flapper closure. Part # is 8201649. The fountian ice dispenser lever is along with the chute flapper. Using this kit along with the lever part # is 2180259. Thank you.
