Have purchased the Icemaker fill tube fitting. Part#AP2992967. Do not understand where the metal insert is to be used. There is no mention in instructions with part and don't see the insert on any of the diagrams on computer screen. Can you help?
ANSWER Hi Donald. Ice maker Fill Tube Fitting Part Number: 2196157. - This is a refrigerator ice maker fill tube approximately 10 inches long and can be cut to the length of the old fitting. Fits most applications. Comes with a 1/4 inch plastic nut and metal insert for installation. The metal insert is for the inside of the 1/4" fill tube - outside feed tube that comes up the back of the cabinet. Slide the supplied white coupler onto the tube. Then slide the metal insert into the end of the 1/4" tube. Do not try to push it in further into the tube as there is a collar to stop it. Then put the tube into the back of the fill tube and snug tighten the fitting onto the fill tube. Make sure that you have the new fill tube cut so as the fill tube rest exactly 1/2 way into the fill area. Or as long as the original one was. There is a 3/4" area of play as you want it inserted only half way so it will fill the cube areas correctly. If it is cut too long it will spill over the side. If it is cut too short it will not reach into the holder correctly. Thank You.
