The Ice maker fill tube fitting in my freezer freezes up sometimes. It's solid ice from the flange that screws into the back of the fridge to the end at the ice maker.
I have to remove it to thaw it out. When I unscrew the hose from it there is a little water pressure built up. Why would this freeze? Why would it hold water to freeze? It seems as though the water would just run into the tray. Something is keeping the water from running off the tube?? There is nothing apparent to plug it and hold the water until it freezes. It is not cracked, the valve doesn't let too much water through because the tray is never overfilled. Thanks for your time!
ANSWER Hello Reese. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the water valve has a slow leak and will need to be replaced on the unit.
