If this icemaker is not working, will the refrigerator and freezer continue to function normally? If not, how long will it be before one or the other fails?

ANSWER Hello Tom, according to icemaker you posted your question the answer is no. The manufacturer built in the defrost timer into this icemaker and if it fails, the unit won't automatically defrost. If you are having issues with freezer cooling fine but fresh food is not cold, this could be the cause. Hope this helps!
