My idler pulley just popped off. The belt lost tension, the triangular plastic was broken and the pulley was lying on the bottom of the dryer. There was some black on the pulley. I was planning on replacing the pulley. Why do you think the pulley popped off. Do you think I need to worry about anything else?
The brack and spring seem fine.

ANSWER Chris, You may want to consider the bracket assembly W10547290 instead, and a new belt 661570 . The black powder on the pulley could be due to the normal wear and tear on the belt. or the pulley bracket and belt being out of alignment.
