How can I find out if the problem is the ignitor or the safety valve? I have read questions and answers when viewing your web site perviously and at first I thought it was the safety valve and then the ignitor because I could bump the burner and it would light for a few seconds. I don't want to have to buy both parts.

ANSWER Hello Emma. Test for 3.2-3.6 volts AC at the gas safety valve with the igniter turned on. If the voltage is there, you have a bad safety valve. If the voltage is low, you have a weak igniter and the igniter 8190012 will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
