I have a Jennnaire range top. I believe an infinite switch has shorted out. I'm not sure which one. One of the four looks newer. Is it possible to test the switches? Or do these tend to die at a certain frequency of use. The range was made in 2001. Some water was spilled on the range, but the short wasn't immediate. about 2 min. later. Could this have weakened an already ill switch or have done it all on its own.
ANSWER Hello Rich. Test for power to the switch and then coming out of the switch. If there is power there, but no power out, then the switch is bad and will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
