Hi, my husband was recently trying to replace the defrost heater in our maytag refrigerator and punctured the lower part of the evaporator trying to get ice off. It oozed out freon or some liquid and we were wondering if we purchase an evaporator kit, can we replace it ourselves and how do we remove this part from the refrigertor? Does the freon or fluid have to be replaced also? It seems like the evaporator is welded to a pipe that goes through back freezer of our refrigerator. Please help, Thank you

ANSWER Hello Fabia. You certainly can repair the appliance; keep in mind the appliance will require additional Freon by a certified technician. Hope this helps.
