Bob M for Model Number lwa65aw

ANSWER Hello Bob. If there is power coming to the water valve, and no cold water is coming in, then yes, you will need to replace the water valve R0131578. You will need to test this when the machine is on, and it is calling for cold water fill. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

ANSWER Bob, You're on track, it's most likely a faulty fill valve R0131578 (you have the correct part number). A quick easy check, if you have a multimeter is to start the washer on a cold wash setting and check for 120 VAC across the two wires in the cold water valve solenoid. Be careful if you check the voltage, you don't want to short out the valve or yourself. Good Luck and Thanks
