My Whirlpool washer will fill water and agitate to wash clothes, however it will not drain or spin to move to the rinse cycle. I had to take the clothes out of the machine and now my machine is just filled with water until I drain it out. Do I have to change the lid switch?
ANSWER Lee, Yes, you probably will need a new lid switch 3949247 or at least that's where you want to start. The washer is designed to fill and agitate, with the lid up/open. But, the lid has to be down (lid switch activated) in order for the washer to drain and spin. Check and make sure the lid strike 358684 is still attached to the lid, and the lid switch hasn't gotten dislodged, first
