My microwave was purchased in late march of 2011. It keeps burning out magnetrons. Whirlpool only replaced the magnetron and the circuit board once, whitch I had to install. That magnetron lasted about five weeks.I then purchased another through parts pros. I just installed it yesterday,it worked fine about 3 short times, and then the microwave made a load sound. I turned it off quickly. I turned it back on again and it worked fine. I used it this morning for a min. and 30secs. it worked fine. The next time it made the same load noise, and I shut it off quickly.I took it apart to see what the problem was. The tip of the magnetron was melted. I have another one on the way. Am I waisting my time repairing? Should I give up and buy a new microwave? What could be causing this problem and is thier a history with this brand or model?
ANSWER Jeff, It's time to look in a different direction. You may need a magnetron tube again, but you need to check the wiring harnesses between the inverter board and magnetron W10217711 and the main control board and the inverter board and repalce the inverter board along with the magnetron. Thanks and Good Luck
