Hi, I have a Whirlpool Gold microwave (model # GH8155XJB-0 serial # XC K 30 10434) which is 10 years old this month. Recently, it began making a very loud humming sound (coming from the top right of the appliance) when I try to use it. I tried warming a small bowl of water for 20 seconds. It did not warm, and there was a 'burnt" smell in the cabinet when I opened the door. My husband is an electician and we would much prefer saving this unit to purchasing another. Any suggestions? ANSWER Hello Alicia. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the diode W10492276 and magnetron W10245183 are bad and will need to be replaced.
