Lid Lock Display Flashes But Sometimes It's Unlocked When Flashing And Sometimes Not. I NoITiced The Washer Was still Filling With The Lid Open. It Isn' t Agitating Or Spinning. However, It sounds Like It's Working. There Is A Burning Smell And An Extremely Loud Noise On The Final Spin. What Could Be Wrong?

Asa M. for Model Number wtw5500xw0

ANSWER Asa, The intermittent issues with the lid lock is most likely due to a faulty actuator W10006355. There are internal sensors and switches, that communicate with the control board and "tell" the control to lock the lid and operate the motor. If the switch is malfunctioning, it could cause the cam W10721967 in the "splotch to deform and make noise and "drag" and cause the odor. Both of these components are located on the bottom of the gear case, so you'll need to lay the washer on it's back or raise the front of the washer enough to get under it.
