My KitchenAid Refrigerator stopped dispensing ice cubes, the cubes are in the ice basket but will not come thru the door. It will only dispense crushed ice. The repairman told us that it can no longer be repaired, he said the part in discontinued. He mentioned some type of board? This Appliance is not that old, we put in old new KitchenAid appliances 4 years ago when we remodeled the kitchen. I have used Whirlpool appliances all our life and have never ran into this problem. We have always been able to get a replacement part to repair our appliances. Can you advice me on this, or tell me which part to order to repair this?
ANSWER Hello Beverlyn,
The part the tech probably found to be defective is the Control Bracket W10728484 and it is, unfortunately, no longer available. This is the part that holds the micro-switches in position so they can be activated. In some cases the bracket might be temporarily repaired with super glue if the pieces can all be located but the bracket will need to be replaced to restore normal operation.
