Lately, if I do heavy loads with several towels, the washer struggles during the spin cycle and won't complete it. Is this because the motor drum is starting to fail?
ANSWER Hi. A couple of issues can be the reason. First if the door lock part # 8182634 is not recognizing the door closed then it will not allow the high speed spin. If the pump part # DC96-01414A impeller spins loose on the pump motor shaft then it needs replaced. Remove the pump intake hose and output hose. Clear all debris. Use a shop vac and towels to clean up the water. If the pressure switch does not sense a empty tub then it will not allow spin as well. It will be advantageous to find the supplied tech sheet inside the cabinet to aid you in the diagnosis. It allows you to put the unit in a diagnostic mode which brings up fault codes and tells you which circuit needs assistance. Thank You.
