Note: This question is for the older version of this part, but we thought you might still find it helpful
My upper unit is not drying. It is making a funny sound when turned on but does not heat up. The lower dryer works fine. The lower unit had its motor replaced a year ago.
A repairman said that it could be the blower(?) or possibly the circuit board but there was no way of telling until he replaced the blower.
Does this sound right? Also, do you sell that part? How difficult is it to replace? I absolutely love this dryer so it is worthwhile for me to fix it since they no longer make this model.
ANSWER Hello Heidi. The blower wheel can make the noise, but not the heat issue. You will need to test the thermostats and the flame sensor and make sure they are good. They should read closed for continuity. Also, check the igniter and make sure it is getting hot enough to light the gas. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter for the testing procedures. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
